This is Gary and he was diagnosed with Achalasia, a swallowing disorder. Gary was very symptomatic and it was greatly affecting his quality of life. Gary could not swallow liquids or solid foods, and because of this he was losing a lot of weight. Gary had a very successful achalasia surgery called Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) – a new surgical therapy for achalasia.
